“We did something good we also did something bad”
The Chicago Bears’ rough season continued with a 34-17 loss to the Detroit Lions, extending their losing streak to nine games. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams didn’t sugarcoat his assessment of the team’s performance, summarizing the night with a simple yet honest statement: “We did some things good, but we also did a lot of things bad.”
Williams’ words reflected the frustration brewing within the locker room as the Bears try to navigate a turbulent transition period under interim head coach Thomas Brown. Brown took over after Matt Eberflus was dismissed in late November following a six-game skid and clock management blunders.

Despite some bright moments, the Bears couldn’t sustain consistency against a well-oiled Lions squad. Williams threw for 215 yards and a touchdown, but his critical interception in the second half swung the momentum firmly in Detroit’s favor. “I take responsibility for that pick,” Williams admitted. “I’ve got to be smarter in those situations.”
The Bears’ offensive struggles were compounded by protection issues, with Williams sacked four times. Meanwhile, the defense allowed over 400 total yards, unable to contain Jared Goff and the Lions’ rushing attack.
Interim coach Thomas Brown emphasized the importance of learning from the loss. “Caleb’s a competitor, and he’s growing with every game,” Brown said. “But as a team, we need to be better across the board – offense, defense, special teams.”
With the Bears now at 4-11, the focus shifts toward finishing the season strong and evaluating players for the future. Williams’ growth remains a top priority, as the franchise eyes a potential rebuild in the offseason, including a search for a permanent head coach.
