Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams had a standout performance against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, setting a career-high with 143 receiving yards, which included a remarkable 82-yard touchdown, as well as a seven-yard rush. Head coach Dan Campbell praised Williams on Monday, calling it his best game to date. “Offensively, our game balls went to (Amon-Ra) St. Brown and Jamo. Both had huge games, but Jamo’s performance was probably his best since joining the team. I’m talking about his contributions in both the pass game and run blocking, which is often overlooked,” Campbell said.

A film review by Christian Booher of SI.com further highlighted Williams’ impressive performance across the board. After the game, Williams shared his thoughts on the 82-yard touchdown. “It was really just me against the safety, No. 36. He was caught flat-footed, and Goff saw it. All I had to do was trust him,” Williams explained. “He knew I could outrun him, so he just put the ball where it needed to be, and I went after it.”

Sunday also had a personal significance for Williams, as it was his mom’s birthday. Although she wasn’t at the game in Chicago, Williams made sure to remember the special day. The Lions shared a video showing Williams on the sideline after his touchdown, asking for the ball to be signed with a “Happy Birthday” message for his mom. “It’s my mama’s birthday, I need that football,” Williams said in the clip. “She didn’t even make it to the game, but it’s her birthday.”

Lions wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El jokingly remarked that Williams had already given his mom the best present—a touchdown. However, Williams was determined to make sure his mom received the football she had requested. “She told me she wanted the ball,” Williams said to Randle El. “But she wasn’t able to make it to the game!” It was a memorable day for Williams, who made sure to honor his mom, despite being focused on his big game performance.
