The Detroit Lions are making a final push to secure the NFC North division title and claim the top seed throughout the NFL playoffs. Two players on the roster have contract incentives that could lead to significant bonuses.

Jared Goff, who is having a standout season and is in the MVP discussion after guiding the Lions to a 13-2 record, has an opportunity to increase his 2028 base salary by $1 million. If the Lions win the Super Bowl and Goff participates in 50 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, he will trigger the bonus.

In a move to strengthen their defense, general manager Brad Holmes acquired veteran defensive end Za’Darius Smith. Unfortunately, Marcus Davenport is out for the season, and the team also parted ways with James Houston. Smith has a chance to earn a $250,000 bonus if he records two more sacks, and he could earn an additional $250,000 if he gets a total of four more sacks. Additionally, if the Lions secure a playoff spot, Smith would receive a $250,000 bonus as well.
