The quarterback is returning from retirement to join the Lions as they head to the playoffs.

Teddy Bridgewater signed with the Detroit Lions on Thursday, coming out of retirement.

Shortly after the signing, Lions coach Dan Campbell explained how Bridgewater’s arrival will benefit the team for the rest of the regular season and into the playoffs.

“I’ve been talking to Teddy for a while, and this was always a possibility,” Campbell said. “Adding someone with experience, who’s kept in shape and kept throwing, is valuable. He brings professionalism, leadership, and is a great fit for our team and that position.”

Campbell also praised Bridgewater for leading his high school alma mater, Miami Northwestern, to a Florida state title earlier this month. After retiring from the NFL in 2023, Bridgewater coached the team to a championship in his first year.

Bridgewater had expressed last week his desire to return to the NFL, which was always in his thoughts. Joining the 13–2 Lions ahead of the playoffs appears to be a wise move. His impact will be seen in the coming weeks.
