Detroit Lions Pro Personnel Director Rob Lohman recently shared his thoughts on his journey with the team, highlighting the remarkable transformations within the organization. Lohman, who has been with the Lions through various leadership changes, discussed how the team’s culture has evolved under General Manager Brad Holmes and Head Coach Dan Campbell.

A Strong Partnership with Brad Holmes
Lohman’s relationship with Brad Holmes, the Lions’ general manager since the departure of Bob Quinn, is a cornerstone of his current success. Having worked with Holmes previously as college scouts, Lohman reflected on how their dynamic shifted once Holmes took on the GM role. “Working for Bob Quinn was completely different than working for Brad Holmes,” Lohman stated. With Holmes in charge, Lohman’s role has expanded, making him a key player in the Lions’ scouting and player acquisition process.

A Culture of Collaboration
The most striking change under Holmes has been the team’s shift to a collaborative culture. “The buzzword around here is collaborative, and we really are,” Lohman said. He emphasized that Holmes actively engages with his team, making sure everyone’s voice is heard and valued. “He listens. He wants to know your thoughts. I think that’s all you can ask for in my position,” Lohman added. While Holmes and Campbell ultimately make the big roster decisions together, Lohman stressed that their shared commitment to collaboration is what sets this regime apart. “It hasn’t always been this way for me.”

A New Era for the Lions
Lohman’s experiences highlight the profound cultural shift within the Lions’ organization. What once felt like a more hierarchical and disconnected system has transformed into one where teamwork, hard work, and input from all members are prioritized. This shift has been key to the Lions’ success, both on and off the field. Lohman’s fulfillment in his role speaks volumes about the positive changes within the franchise.

As the Lions continue to rise, Lohman’s contributions to scouting and player acquisition will be crucial in helping the team build on its strong foundation. His story is a powerful reminder of the importance of organizational change and the impact it can have on a team’s success when everyone is valued and heard.
