A Detroit Lions fan has taken his team pride to a whole new level by getting a tattoo of a can of “Dan Campbell’s Whoop A$$ Soup,” which has quickly gone viral on social media. The fan, Matt Pauli, shared his decision to commemorate his dedication to the Lions with a permanent mark.

“I figured it was time to get something that represents my love for the Lions,” Pauli explained.

Inspired by the team’s recent success, Pauli chose to visit Tatt Ma’am Tattoos in Mount Clemens for the design. Tattoo artist Danielle Trump, who came up with the concept, said she was motivated by a viral image of the soup can featuring Dan Campbell.

“We admire Dan Campbell for what he’s done with the Lions, and it felt like the perfect tribute,” Trump stated.

Trump, with 15 years of tattooing experience, opened her own shop just under a year ago and has worked on several Detroit sports tattoos. However, she admits this one stands out as her favorite. “The spirit of the Lions—whether we’re winning or losing—our fans are fiercely loyal,” she remarked.

For Pauli, the tattoo symbolizes more than just his football fandom; it represents overcoming personal challenges. Having undergone over 30 surgeries and coping with Crouzon syndrome, a genetic condition, Pauli has faced numerous hardships throughout his life.

“After enduring so much pain and disappointment, I’m finally taking steps to live life on my own terms,” Pauli shared. “But no matter what happens, I’ll never miss a game.”
