Sam Darnold did everything he could for the Minnesota Vikings in their Sunday game, but it ultimately wasn’t enough as the Detroit Lions defeated them 31-9. With this victory, the Lions secured the NFC North title and the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Darnold, who has had an outstanding season, finished the game completing 18 of 41 passes for 166 yards and no touchdowns. Although the loss was disappointing, Darnold and the Vikings are keeping their focus on the playoffs, where they still have a chance to make a Super Bowl run.
Following the tough loss, Darnold’s girlfriend, Katie Hoofnagle, sent a supportive message on social media. Much like many Minnesota fans, she is fully committed to supporting the team. Hoofnagle posted on Instagram: “RIDE OR DIE IN PURPLE!!!” She also appeared in a video shared by Keely Grugier-Hill, the wife of linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, where Hoofnagle repeated the same five-word phrase. As the Vikings now prepare for their Wild Card matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, they are determined to give it their all in the postseason.
