The Detroit Lions’ recruitment efforts seem to have scored big after a mother of a 31-pound baby pledged her son to the NFL team.
“Dibs,” the Lions posted on TikTok after Madison Peltzer’s viral clips featuring her “chunky” baby gained traction on social media.
Peltzer responded in another video, telling the Super Bowl contenders, “@Detroit Lions, give us a few years & we’re there.”
One of her TikTok videos, showcasing her six-month-old boy in the “99th percentile for everything” weight-wise, amassed over 10 million views.
Peltzer also shared that her son, exclusively breastfed, weighed just 9 pounds 2 ounces at birth.
After her reply to the Lions went viral, NFL fans humorously suggested she should hold the team to their word when the baby grows up.
The Detroit Lions staked their claim on the 31-pound baby after his TikTok fame.
“That’s a contract in writing, lol,” one fan joked. “I’d frame that for proof,” another added. “No take backsies!”
A third fan quipped, “I’d save this video and show it to them when he turns 18… y’all said dibs.”
The Lions, who ended their season with a 15-2 record, are aiming for the Super Bowl after falling short in the NFC Championship last year.
Their playoff run starts Saturday when they face the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round.
