Jaguars Exploring Interest in Lions’ Cornerback Carlton Davis
Detroit Lions’ free-agent cornerback, Carlton Davis, is expected to receive significant interest as free agency approaches. At 28 years old, Davis is regarded as a versatile, physical defensive back, and many teams are expected to pursue him. According to a detailed report from ESPN, the Jacksonville Jaguars are among the teams that might consider offering him a contract.
NFL sources have indicated that the Jaguars will be evaluating the market for the veteran cornerback, noting that Davis is entering the final years of his career. Additionally, Liam Coen, who spoke at the scouting combine, emphasized that the Jaguars are focusing on playing a more physical brand of football. As part of that approach, the team hired Eric Siano, a respected veteran strength and conditioning coach, to help shape their physicality for the upcoming season.
“We have to get through the AFC, right? We’re going to have to play physical,” Coen remarked, noting the importance of developing a physical mentality and approach to their style of play. The Jaguars are looking to enhance their physicality under this new direction.
Chicago Bears Eyeing Veteran Kevin Zeitler
The Chicago Bears are reportedly considering veteran offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler as a potential target in free agency. Zeitler, who played for the Lions last season, could be an option for the Bears as they look to bolster their offensive line. According to the Chicago Tribune, Zeitler, a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, has previously expressed interest in playing for the Bears.
At 35 years old, Zeitler would be a short-term solution for the Bears, who are also considering a potential draft pick for the guard or center positions. Adding Zeitler would give the Bears a veteran presence and potentially strengthen their interior offensive line for the 2025 season.
