Dan Skipper, the fan-favorite offensive lineman for the Detroit Lions, is set to return for another season after agreeing to a one-year deal with the team, according to ESPN.

Skipper, known for his role as an extra blocker and the team’s sixth offensive lineman, took on an even more significant role last season, starting five games and stepping in at left tackle when Taylor Decker was sidelined. The 30-year-old has been with the Lions since 2019, playing in 53 games and starting 11. After a brief stint with the Houston Texans, he rejoined Detroit, where he has become a versatile asset, filling in at various positions across the offensive line, including left guard, right guard, and right tackle, as well as playing as a blocking tight end.

Although the Lions’ offensive line still faces some uncertainties—particularly with Kevin Zeitler unsigned and Graham Glasgow entering his final year—the return of Skipper is a positive development for the team’s depth and overall play. The 6-foot-9, 330-pound lineman is known for his strength, experience, and familiarity with offensive line coach Hank Fraley’s system.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell praised Skipper’s growth, noting, “He earned the third tackle position, and I feel like this was the best he’s ever played. He’s battled to get to this point, and when Decker was out, he stepped in and played well. He’s tough, smart, and gritty, and he fits everything we stand for.” Skipper’s versatility and toughness will continue to be a valuable asset to the Lions’ offensive line.
