The Pittsburgh Steelers have built a reputation for stability, yet they’ve faced ongoing uncertainty at quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger’s best years began to wane.

ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, however, believes the team has already settled on its solution.

“My take on the [Aaron] Rodgers situation with Pittsburgh? I think it’s already a done deal. I’m 100 percent convinced he’s going there,” Orlovsky stated. “Now, I don’t have insider knowledge—others might—but I just don’t see it playing out any other way.”

Orlovsky’s perspective is rooted in the Steelers’ methodical approach to roster building.

He contends that a franchise of Pittsburgh’s caliber wouldn’t leave such a vital position to chance, particularly in a division that features elite quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow.

Holding the 21st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers aren’t well-positioned to land a top-tier quarterback in what many analysts consider a weak class beyond the highest-rated prospects. Given this, Orlovsky believes the team has already mapped out its plan.

Though the details remain uncertain, he firmly expects Pittsburgh to bring in Rodgers, with the move occurring either before or shortly after the draft.

That said, Orlovsky’s confidence might not fully account for the Steelers’ recent struggles at the position.

Since Roethlisberger first hinted at retirement, the team has cycled through multiple options—Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, and now Russell Wilson—without finding a long-term answer. This lack of continuity at quarterback stands in contrast to the careful decision-making that has defined other areas of the franchise.
