In 2024, the Detroit Lions had one of their best seasons in franchise history. They won 15 games, captured their second consecutive NFC North title, and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs for the first time ever. However, to remain competitive and make another deep playoff run in 2025, Detroit will need to reload their roster.

One of the Lions’ biggest challenges last season was dealing with defensive injuries. In fact, they could field an entire defense made up of players who were placed on injured reserve. The most significant loss came when Aidan Hutchinson was sidelined for the season, highlighting just how critical a top-tier pass rusher is to Detroit’s defense.

Given this, many Lions fans are hoping for another elite pass rusher to complement Hutchinson in the future. One potential candidate is Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson, who has been allowed to explore trade options.

Could the Lions realistically land him?

Here, we’ll examine ESPN’s trade suggestion that would send Hendrickson to Detroit, with Bill Barnwell proposing the Lions give up a first-round draft pick to make it happen.

In Barnwell’s trade scenario, there’s one hidden cost involved.
