In their first campaign with Mark Pope as head coach, the Kentucky Wildcats wrapped up a promising season that followed the long-standing leadership of John Calipari.
Pope guided the team to a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where Kentucky secured wins over Troy and Illinois before falling to Tennessee with a final score of 78-65 in the Sweet 16.
Following the end of their tournament run, the Wildcats are now preparing to move forward without one of their standout players. Koby Brea, a top offensive weapon for the team, has announced his intention to enter the 2025 NBA Draft.
Brea took to social media to express heartfelt gratitude for his college experience.
“Everyone’s journey is unique, and I wouldn’t trade mine for anything,” Brea shared in a touching statement. “Every high and low has molded me into who I am, and I’m thankful for all of it. While saying goodbye is tough, I’m looking ahead with excitement to what lies ahead.”
He went on to thank those who supported him along the way—his coaches, teammates, academic mentors, friends, and both Dayton’s Flyer Nation and Kentucky’s Big Blue Nation.
“Above all, I give thanks to God. I know none of this would be possible without Him,” Brea added. “With that, I’m thrilled to officially announce that I’ll be entering the 2025 NBA Draft.”
Brea transferred to Kentucky for his final season after spending four years at Dayton. He wrapped up the year with averages of 11.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per contest.
