Charlotte – The Carolina Panthers are excited to announce the 2025 Keep Pounding High School Classic presented by Belk, featuring a highly anticipated lineup of defending state champions and strong title contenders. The event will take place on Friday, August 22, at Bank of America Stadium, with a doubleheader showcasing two thrilling matchups: the Hough Huskies facing the South Pointe Stallions at 4:00 PM, followed by the Grimsley Whirlies battling the West Charlotte Lions at 8:00 PM.

“We’re proud to work alongside Belk to kick off the high school football season with this fantastic event, which highlights the importance of football in uniting our communities,” said Kristi Coleman, CEO of Tepper Sports & Entertainment and President of the Carolina Panthers. “This year’s Keep Pounding High School Classic will feature top-notch competition and school pride, bringing together four exceptional teams from North and South Carolina.”

In October, the Carolina Panthers and Belk announced a multi-year partnership, with Belk securing the naming rights for the Keep Pounding High School Classic as part of their shared commitment to supporting the Panthers’ community initiatives.

“At Belk, we take great pride in celebrating the communities we serve, and we are thrilled to be part of this incredible event,” said Don Hendricks, CEO of Belk. “The Keep Pounding High School Classic is a wonderful way to highlight the talent, dedication, and spirit of young athletes across our region.”

The Hough Huskies (N.C.) are expected to be a top contender for the state title after finishing 2024 with a 12-2 record and a semifinal appearance. The South Pointe Stallions (S.C.) will be aiming for their eighth state championship following a strong 11-3 campaign and a spot in the state semifinals.

The Grimsley Whirlies (N.C.) enter the season with national recognition, ranked #16 in Sports Illustrated’s “Way Too Early” high school poll after an undefeated 16-0 season in 2024, capped by a 4A state championship. Meanwhile, the West Charlotte Lions (N.C.) return 21 starters from their 2024 3A state championship team, which posted a 13-2 record. This season, Grimsley will compete in the NCHSAA’s newly formed 7A classification, while West Charlotte will be moving up to the 8A class.
