Arizona State Center Leif Fautanu Signs with Detroit Lions After 2025 NFL Draft
After going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft, Arizona State center Leif Fautanu has agreed to terms with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent, the Sun Devils announced. Details regarding his contract have not yet been made public.
Fautanu had a productive college career, appearing in 26 games over two seasons with ASU. He logged 3,329 snaps—ranking third-most among all active FBS centers during that time. His pass-blocking abilities stood out nationally, earning him an 89.3 grade, the highest of any center and seventh overall across all positions.
The 6-foot-2, 315-pound lineman played a key role in ASU’s ground game, helping the team rack up 2,799 rushing yards in a single season—14th-most in program history. Fautanu was difficult to beat up front, surrendering only four quarterback pressures, which placed him among the top 10 centers in that category.
In 2023, he played all 851 offensive snaps at center and was named Arizona State’s Offensive MVP. His performance earned him honorable mention recognition in the Pac-12 All-Conference awards. That season, he recorded a pass-blocking grade of 78.7—fifth-best among Pac-12 centers—while giving up just two sacks and three QB hits.
