Detroit Lions standout wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown has made a major impact in just four seasons, tallying over 4,800 receiving yards and scoring 33 touchdowns. He’s become a central figure in the team’s offensive strategy.

However, recent attention has shifted off the field after a controversial video surfaced online, leading to backlash from fans.

The clip features St. Brown’s father, John Brown—a former Mr. Universe champion—making racially controversial remarks. In the video, Brown advised his sons against dating or fathering children with white women. Despite having been in an interracial relationship himself, he insisted that his sons shouldn’t follow the same path if they wish to continue producing elite athletes.

John Brown justified his own choices by claiming that any potential genetic “dilution” had already occurred through him, and it was now up to his sons to maintain athletic excellence by preserving what he sees as optimal genetic traits.

The video appeared during an episode of “The St. Brown Brothers Podcast,” where John joined his sons for a candid discussion. Although he stopped short of outright condemning interracial relationships, his statements emphasized the belief that sticking to one’s own race would supposedly yield better athletic offspring.

Amon-Ra, who was drafted by the Lions in 2021, is now among the NFL’s highest-paid wide receivers outside the quarterback position. His brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, entered the league in 2018 with the Green Bay Packers and most recently played for the Chicago Bears. Their third sibling, Osiris, played college football at Stanford but was sidelined by injuries and eventually transitioned into the business world.

The St. Brown brothers were raised in a strict household where physical discipline and early athletic training were a major focus. All three earned Division I football scholarships, and two went on to play professionally.

Currently, Amon-Ra is in a long-term relationship with Brooklyn Adams, who is believed to be white. The couple has no children.
