The Detroit Lions kicked off Wednesday’s joint practice with the Miami Dolphins with some encouraging developments on the injury front — and one notable absence.

Cornerback Terrion Arnold (hamstring), rookie edge rusher Ahmed Hassanein (lower leg), and running back Sione Vaki (hamstring) were all back on the field after missing time. In contrast, safety Kerby Joseph, who had only recently resumed practicing, was not in uniform. His absence has not yet been officially explained, and it’s possible the team is being cautious with his workload.

Head coach Dan Campbell offered updates before practice, hinting that Arnold’s participation would remain limited for now:

“I don’t expect T.A. to go through these joint practices. He’s improving each day, but we’re targeting next week for him.”

Although Arnold suited up and worked in individual drills, it appears he will be held out of full team activities against Miami.

Hassanein, who exited Monday’s session early, looks set for a full return. Campbell reassured reporters:

“Ahmed should be out there today. Monday was just a bit of a scare.”

Vaki, who’s been sidelined for most of camp, is also ramping back up. Campbell explained the gradual plan:

“He’ll do some individual work, some group drills, and a few team reps to see what he can handle. If all goes well, we’ll increase his workload.”

The team will provide a full injury update after Wednesday’s session along with detailed practice observations.
