Dolphins’ 3-Time All-Pro CB Sign With Lions in a Predicted Trade

Despite already having a full stable of corners, a new report suggests the Lions were among the teams the Miami Dolphins reached out to about a possible trade involving star defensive back Jalen Ramsey, who may be on the move.

Armando Salguero of Outkick named the Lions as one of several franchises the Dolphins contacted, along with the Falcons, Rams, Commanders, and Eagles.

Financially, a deal for Ramsey would be a hefty investment. Per Spotrac, he’s owed over $24 million annually from 2026 through 2028, with a cap hit exceeding $25 million each season—costs the Lions likely can’t absorb, especially if they’re also eyeing other high-profile players like Za’Darius Smith.

Moreover, Detroit’s secondary appears well-equipped as it stands. The team views Reed as their top corner going forward, and they also invested early draft picks last year in Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. Arnold, in particular, gained valuable experience covering top receivers in man coverage during his rookie campaign and is expected to take another step this season.

While Ramsey’s name would’ve been more intriguing for Detroit before free agency began, the team has since solidified its cornerback unit and would be better off directing resources elsewhere.
