Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and star wide receiver A.J. Brown addressed the ongoing concerns about Brown’s limited involvement in the offense during a Wednesday press session. The discussion comes after Brown was targeted only three times in Monday night’s 10-7 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Brown’s limited usage isn’t a new occurrence—this was his third game this season with two or fewer receptions, yet the Eagles have won all three contests. Sirianni explained that game flow and defensive strategies sometimes prevent Brown from seeing more opportunities. He cited examples like DeVonta Smith’s touchdown, which was initially intended for Brown but ultimately taken away by the Packers’ defense.
“Stats don’t always reflect a player’s impact,” Sirianni said. “A.J. Brown is among the league’s elite receivers. We aim to involve him on every play, but sometimes the game unfolds differently, as we saw against the Rams or Vikings.”
Brown admitted to feeling frustrated but emphasized that his concerns extend beyond his individual role. He wants to see the Eagles’ offense perform more consistently, rather than relying on the defense to bail them out.
“It’s not just about me,” Brown said. “We need to play better as an offense if we want to win. You can’t keep putting a band-aid on the same problems and expect success later in the season. We have to adapt and find ways to improve.”
While the Eagles are enjoying a three-game winning streak and hold a 7-2 record, their offense has struggled compared to last year’s Super Bowl run. In Monday’s matchup at Lambeau Field, they managed only 10 points, and Jalen Hurts threw for under 200 yards for the fourth time this season. The offense didn’t gain traction until a late big play in the fourth quarter.
Sirianni expressed a desire to move past repeated questions about Brown’s role. “He’s putting in tremendous work and is a crucial part of our plans moving forward,” the coach said. “I’m excited about having him on the field.”
Brown has had strong games this season, including 10 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown against the Rams and six catches for 121 yards against the Vikings. So far, he has totaled 31 receptions for 408 yards and three touchdowns.
The wide receiver has also voiced frustration about his usage on social media, sharing posts like “Using me but not using me” and, after a two-catch game versus Tampa Bay, “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene.” Brown later clarified that his posts weren’t aimed at anyone within the Eagles organization.
