According to Over the Cap, trading Garrett after June 1 would result in the team swallowing only $15 million in dead money and saving $8. 1 million.
That appears to be feasible.
But can Detroit afford Garrett’s $40 million yearly salary? Yes, there are always methods to manipulate the salary cap, and, as Tannenbaum mentioned, having Hutchinson and Garrett on opposing sides is a headache for attacks to cope with.
It would break the internet, but Detroit trading for Garrett is not impossible, especially if Campbell does not prize his draft capital this offseason.
