Hall of Fame: Lions to Enshrine Robert Porcher in Pride of the Lions

Drafted in the first round back in 1992, Porcher spent his entire 12-year NFL career in Detroit. He became a cornerstone of the defense throughout the 1990s, helping lead the Lions to five playoff appearances during his tenure. His career highlights include three Pro Bowl selections (1997, 1999, and 2001) and five different seasons with double-digit sack totals. By the time he retired, Porcher had tallied 95.5 sacks, 602 total tackles, 18 forced fumbles, and one interception.

Porcher will be the 22nd player to receive this prestigious honor, joining a legendary list that already includes Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Herman Moore, Chris Spielman, Jason Hanson, and several other Lions greats such as Bobby Layne, Dutch Clark, and Dick “Night Train” Lane.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for Detroit’s home opener in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears, which also doubles as the Lions’ annual homecoming celebration. Porcher recently made an appearance at training camp during joint practices with Houston, giving fans an early chance to see him back in Honolulu Blue.
