According to 247Sports. com, Arlington Heights (Ill. ) Montini Catholic four-star quarterback Israel Abrams, the No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class, arrived in Tallahassee on Monday night and spent Tuesday with FSU’s football program.
Abrams, accompanied by his parents and a sibling, gained a thorough grasp of FSU Football by meeting with several coaches, the strength and conditioning staff, learning about academics, and seeing everything a player has access to when dressed in Garnet and Gold.
The 6-foot-4, 187-pound quarterback spoke on his first trip to the Seminoles as Tuesday drew to a close. The complete Q&A is as follows:
What did he think of the visit?
I found it to be very awesome. I just finished meeting with coach Norvell. He’s a terrific man. That is a real man. I sensed it. My family and I felt it. Not many people like him. Honest people will tell you the truth regardless of the implications for their finances or family. That was some evidence we just heard in there. I’m shell shocked. I’ve never heard a coach say something like that, and it’s refreshing to hear it. I am not suggesting that every other coach is BSing. It’s simply a bit different from what I’m used to hearing all the time.
What was it like to be in the QB room meeting and then watch the squad take the field?
Speaking to all of the position coaches. Spending time with coach Tucker. Man, coach Tucker is also a wonderful person. I spent the entire day with him. I’ve spent the entire day with him, and we’ve had a terrific time. Discuss football. Literally, hours of chatting about football. That is what I enjoy doing, and it is what he enjoys doing. So we just get along well.
Is it right to say you were astonished by the visit?
I was. I was very shocked by this, without a question. They surprised me a little bit. And I’m not suggesting that I came down here with poor expectations. I simply did not anticipate it. I’ve never visited Tallahassee before, so it’s a completely new experience for me.
100%. I am speechless. I truly believe this is a very lovely location, and others should surely visit. Definitely come down here.
How does he see himself in the offense, given that he attends positional meetings, chats with coaches, and watches practice?
For example, Jaden O’Neal last year. I observed their quarterback move from Auburn this year. It sort of suits the type of player and offensive style. He believes that hiring Jaden O’Neal and then me is not all that different. Same kind of quarterback. I feel that’s a good thing. Two identical body constructions. It was excellent. Seeing them run an attack like this makes me wonder if I could do the same. It is quick. It works. It’s an NFL-style attack. You have to make checks. All the things an NFL attack expects you to do. If I came here, it would be just to put me in a good position for my future.
Will you visit FSU for your official visit (scheduled for June) before making a decision?
I believe I do. 100 percent. Definitely the goal. Yes, sir. Kind of. I’m not sure if I’ll return to every location for an official visit. I believe Florida State will be a destination where I will return for an official visit.
Is Florida State more of a contender for you now than it was before you walked in the door this morning?
100%. That’s just because I got to witness it. Sometimes that’s all it is. You can hear it, but it’s not until you step foot on a location and experience the atmosphere, what it’s about, and the people, coaches, and players that you truly get it. And the manner in which players perform for coaches, the way they respond to coaches, and the way they take coaching. It alters your viewpoint on the location where you are.
Some Additional Notes
Abrams is scheduled to make an official trip to FSU on June 12th. Other official visits are planned for Purdue (April 3), Auburn (June 5), and Kentucky (June 19).
