Texas Tech opens its fifth season under Joey McGuire with its first official spring practice on Tuesday. As he does every season, McGuire permits certain Red Raiders to change jersey numbers, sometimes for personal reasons or to match what they wore in high school or at a previous school.
Between returners wearing a new uniform and more than 30 new players on the roster, Red Raider supporters will need to learn a few new names and numbers before Texas Tech begins the 2026 season on September 5 against Abilene Christian.
