This offseason, two Kentucky women’s basketball players have stated their intention to transfer when the transfer window opens on April 6. The first was Lexi Blue, who revealed her intention to join the transfer portal on Tuesday. Now, it appears that center Elsa Vadfors will enter the gateway as well.
Vadfors, a 6-foot-5 center from Sweden, redshirted this past season as a freshman.
She was a part of Sweden’s 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s EuroBasket squad, averaging 1. 7 points and 2. 8 rebounds per game. Prior to coming to Kentucky, Vadfors played 48 games in the Swedish Basketball League, averaging 2. 5 points and 4. 9 rebounds.
This year, prior to arriving in Lexington, she participated in 18 games, averaging 1. 2 points and 2. 9 rebounds each game.
With Vadfors set to depart, only eight players remain on the 2026-27 squad. Kenny Brooks was already going to have to recruit some size with Amelia Hassett and Teonni Key graduating, but now that Vadfors is leaving as well, that need has grown even more crucial.
