The cheating scandal began in the 2021 season and continued until the public was informed in the middle of the most recent football season.

After Stalions was suspended by the team, he resigned from his position in November of last year. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was punished by the Big Ten for the final three regular-season games.

The fact that Michigan went on to win the national championship made the sign-stealing incident inconsequential, but it could all be undone.

Kentucky Got Hit With A Major Penalty On Friday

A significant fine against Kentucky football led to players on the squad being paid for labor they never performed during the 2021–2022 season.

Eight of the athletes went on to compete and collect actual and necessary costs while they were ineligible, while the offenses stem from 11 players getting compensated for labor they never completed at the University of Kentucky Hospital between Spring 2021 and March 2022, according to On3.com.

What will happen to Michigan, whose cheating affected game outcomes, do you think, if the Wildcats are forced to forfeit victories due to a scandal that had nothing to do with real results on the field?

Michigan Could Get The Death Penalty

If Michigan is given the death sentence, they may forfeit victories, possibly even the championship, forfeit scholarships, miss future postseason trips, and be placed on probation.

While Kentucky paid a heavy price for their actions, Michigan’s actions are much more detrimental because they affected game results; had the Wolverines not cheated, those results could have been different.

The Wolverines’ punishment may not be known for some time, but given what transpired against Kentucky on Friday, Michigan supporters ought to be beginning to worry.
