Kentucky is actively pursuing another forward to fill the void left by Andrew Carr and Ansley Almonor. One name gaining considerable attention in the transfer portal is Duncan Powell, a versatile 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward.

Powell’s college journey has been an interesting one. He initially started at North Carolina A&T, where he played two seasons, averaging 7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game in 21.8 minutes. Seeking a larger platform, he transferred to Sacramento State for his redshirt sophomore season, making an immediate impact with averages of 12.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 26.5 minutes per game.

His standout performance at Sacramento State earned him a chance to play at a higher level, leading him to Georgia Tech for his redshirt junior season. Powell started in 13 of the 33 games he appeared in for the Yellow Jackets, posting averages of 12.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 29.5 minutes per game. After just one season in Atlanta, Powell is once again exploring his options and has entered the transfer portal.

Since his decision to transfer, Powell has attracted interest from several top programs, including Kentucky, Memphis, and Providence. His ability to contribute both offensively and on the boards makes him a highly sought-after target for teams looking to bolster their frontcourt with an experienced and skilled forward. With his diverse background in college basketball, Powell has the potential to be a valuable addition to Kentucky’s roster as they continue to refine their squad for the upcoming season.
