Mark Pope Optimistic About Otega Oweh’s Potential Return to Kentucky
With the majority of the Kentucky Wildcats’ roster already taking shape, the spotlight now turns to Otega Oweh as he evaluates his options in the NBA Draft process. Though many expect Oweh to eventually come back to Lexington, nothing is set in stone until he officially withdraws, with the deadline looming on May 28.
During a recent appearance on Jon Rothstein’s podcast, Kentucky head coach Mark Pope shared his thoughts on Oweh’s situation. While fully supporting Oweh’s journey through the draft process, Pope expressed strong hope that the talented guard will return for another season with the Wildcats.
“Otega is exploring his NBA opportunities, and we’re behind him all the way,” Pope said. “But I truly believe a big part of his heart remains at Kentucky. Should he come back, he’d likely be the frontrunner for SEC Player of the Year and could find himself on several preseason All-American lists. His future is incredibly bright.”
If Oweh does decide to return, expectations will be sky-high as he could emerge as one of the most impactful players in college basketball next season.
