Kam Williams Helped Bring Jaland Lowe to Kentucky

Kam Williams, one of the top shooters in the transfer portal, played a pivotal role not just on the court but in recruiting as well — specifically helping Kentucky land talented point guard Jaland Lowe.

Williams, a 6’8″ forward from Lafayette, Louisiana, made a strong impression during his freshman season at Tulane, averaging 9.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and shooting over 41% from three. His standout performance earned him a spot on Mark Pope’s revamped Kentucky roster.

But Williams’ impact extended beyond his own transfer. A former AAU teammate of Lowe with Houston Hoops, Williams reached out directly when he saw Kentucky was interested in the Pitt transfer. With Kentucky needing a point guard following Lamont Butler’s departure, Williams saw an opportunity.

“After I saw that they were kind of interested in him, I hit him up and I was like, ‘Might as well come over here,’” Williams said. “We needed a PG… so it felt like that was probably the person I reached out to first.”

Lowe, a former All-ACC performer, is now expected to start at point guard for the Wildcats in the 2025–26 season, with Williams likely to play a key role alongside him
