Lions’ $41M Shutdown Cornerback Set for Blockbuster Move to Reunite with Aaron Glenn at the New York Jets!

With former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn now leading the New York Jets, it’s likely that some Lions players will follow him to his new team.

One potential candidate is cornerback Carlton Davis, who had an impressive debut season in Detroit before a fractured jaw prematurely ended his year. As he approaches free agency in 2025, his future remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, the Jets are preparing for the departure of D.J. Reed, a key starting cornerback, who has made it clear he intends to play elsewhere.

“I’m ready to hit free agency, man,” Reed stated in an interview with Tyler Dunne of Go Long. “I’m excited to see what’s next for me.”

With the Jets in need of a boundary cornerback to complement Sauce Gardner and Michael Carter, USA TODAY’s Nick Brinkerhoff projects Davis will make the move to New York. Interestingly, he also envisions Reed heading to Detroit.

“With Reed leaving for the Lions in this scenario, there’s room for a new cornerback to step up for the Jets,” Brinkerhoff explained. “Davis thrived in Glenn’s system last season, making him an ideal fit to reunite with his former coach in New York.”
