Lions Add Boston College’s 6’0″, 217-Pound Touchdown Machine Kyle Robichaux to Bolster Backfield Depth.

That strategy continued into undrafted free agency. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the Lions have signed running back Kyle Robichaux, who went unselected in the draft. He joins fellow UDFA running back Anthony Tyus III from Ohio, who had already been added to the roster.

Although Robichaux wasn’t drafted, he brings a lot to the table. Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 217 pounds, he was a reliable force near the goal line at Boston College, finding the endzone 18 times over the past two seasons and producing two campaigns of more than 740 rushing yards.

NFL Draft Diamonds describes Robichaux as a dependable short-yardage option who protects the football well. While he isn’t known for explosive plays, he compensates with smart decision-making and patience when navigating through traffic.

Given Detroit’s commitment to a strong ground game, adding a physical, downhill runner like Robichaux fits perfectly. The Lions have thrived by leaning on a deep stable of running backs, wearing down defenses over four quarters.

Robichaux’s skill set could make him a natural fit in this rotation, especially since starters Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery carry heavy workloads — with Montgomery, in particular, already logging significant mileage since entering the NFL in 2019 (79 starts and 1,300 carries).

At minimum, Robichaux brings extra depth and competition to the backfield, possibly challenging Craig Reynolds for a roster spot ahead of the 2025 campaign.
