The Philadelphia Eagles barely escaped Green Bay on Monday night, and now head back to Lincoln Financial Field preparing for another bruising test — this time against one of the NFC North’s most dangerous teams. Entering Week 11, the Eagles are part of an exclusive group of franchises sitting on just two losses, alongside Denver, Indianapolis, New England, the Rams and Seattle.

Their next opponent, the Detroit Lions, come in scorching hot at 6-3, fresh off a dominant 44–22 victory over Washington. Detroit has reportedly had this matchup in the back of its mind for quite some time. Like several other NFL teams, the Lions haven’t forgotten Philadelphia’s 40–22 triumph over Kansas City in Super Bowl 59.

Pro Bowl receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown made plenty of noise months ago, openly pushing for the Lions to get a Week 1 showdown in Philly after repeatedly bringing up the Eagles’ win and blaming officials for Detroit’s earlier playoff exit.

That request wasn’t granted in Week 1 — but the showdown is happening now, in prime time. And Lions defensive star Aidan Hutchinson made it clear this isn’t just another date on the schedule. He revealed that this game has been “marked on the calendar” for a long stretch and labeled the matchup as nothing short of a must-win for Detroit.

Detroit brings a balanced attack into the clash, pairing an offense putting up 31.4 points per game with a defense ranked fourth in the league. Philadelphia gets a boost with offensive lineman Cam Jurgens returning after a two-week absence — an important addition considering the Lions have racked up 30 sacks so far.

On the other side, Vic Fangio’s defense is bracing for the Lions’ dynamic backfield. Jahmyr Gibbs exploded for 142 rushing yards and added 30 receiving yards last week, complementing David Montgomery in a dangerous one-two punch. Detroit’s run game sits sixth in the NFL at 136 yards per outing. Meanwhile, St. Brown continues to produce like one of the league’s elite receivers, already tallying 64 catches, 693 yards and eight touchdowns on 82 targets.
