While much of the NFL world outside Philadelphia continues to criticize the Eagles’ famous “Tush Push,” Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell isn’t joining the chorus of complaints — and his stance is earning him respect among Eagles fans.

As the Lions prepare to face Philadelphia in their Week 11 matchup, Campbell was asked about his thoughts on the controversial short-yardage play that has stirred debate around the league. True to his tough-minded reputation, Campbell didn’t seem bothered by it.

“If you start taking one thing out of the game, then you’ll end up taking everything out,” Campbell said. “Next thing you know, we’re not even wearing pads and only playing half an hour. The Eagles found something that works — it’s on everyone else to stop it.”

For Philadelphia supporters, Campbell’s comments are refreshing. Few opposing coaches have publicly defended the play, but his words echo what many fans already believe — it’s part of football’s physical identity.

It also fits Campbell’s personality. Known as an old-school coach who values grit and contact, he’s made it clear he supports keeping football tough and competitive. His Lions even stood among the minority of teams — just 10 in total — that voted against banning the “Tush Push” during the offseason.

The upcoming game could have major playoff implications. Both teams are battling near the top of the NFC, with Detroit sitting at 6-3 and tied for first in the NFC North. Many believe this clash could serve as a sneak preview of the NFC Championship.

Eagles fans are tipping their caps to Campbell for defending their signature play, but once kickoff arrives, that mutual respect will be set aside. For three hours, it’s all business — with Philadelphia focused on asserting dominance and keeping control of the NFC’s top spot.
