Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions recognize the potential of Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn and understand that both assistants are ready for head coaching roles, even though they would prefer to retain them. Glenn, in his fourth year as the defensive coordinator, has become a sought-after candidate, reportedly interviewing with teams such as the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and New York Jets.

Alex Anzalone, one of Glenn’s key defensive players, expressed strong confidence in his coordinator’s ability to lead a team. During an appearance on The Adam Schefter Podcast, Anzalone praised Glenn’s leadership qualities, comparing him to Campbell in areas where the head coach is widely celebrated. “Everything said about Dan—leadership, culture, development—A.G. has those same qualities,” Anzalone remarked. “He’s one of the best coaches I’ve been around, and he’s ready for a head coaching job.”
