Lions safety Kerby Joseph, despite leading the NFL with nine interceptions, was snubbed from the Pro Bowl.

Despite a stellar 2024 season that included nine interceptions, which led the league, Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph was snubbed from his first Pro Bowl selection. However, he remains confident in his abilities, asserting that he is “for sure” the best safety in the NFL. In a recent appearance on The Jim Rome Show, Joseph expressed his belief in his top-tier status, saying, “I feel like I’m the best, and I’m always going to strive to continue to be the best.”

Joseph’s impressive stats earned him recognition as one of the NFL’s top safeties. In addition to leading the league in interceptions, he earned spots on The Associated Press All-Pro team and the Next Gen Stats All-Pro squad. Pro Football Focus also ranked him as the highest-rated safety with a 90.4 grade. Despite these accolades, he was left off the Pro Bowl roster, an outcome he says he wasn’t surprised by.

“I don’t really have an issue with it,” Joseph said. “It’s not unexpected. I kind of already knew something like this would happen. The Pro Bowl is a great event, but it’s not something I was focused on. My goal was the Super Bowl, not the Pro Bowl.”

Joseph, who has occasionally been involved in controversial plays that resulted in injuries to players like Tyler Higbee and T.J. Hockenson, believes his reputation may have played a role in the Pro Bowl selection process. However, he remains unbothered and is looking forward, acknowledging his team’s remarkable 15-2 regular season despite challenges such as injuries.

Reflecting on the season, Joseph emphasized the importance of teamwork and leadership, stating, “It was a tough year with all the injuries, but I told the team, ‘It’s going to take all of us.’ We did the best we could. I grew as a person and developed my leadership and communication skills.”
