The Detroit Lions have suffered a major blow to their defensive front as defensive tackle Levi Onwuzurike has officially been ruled out for the entire 2025 NFL season following ACL surgery. Head coach Dan Campbell confirmed the unfortunate news on July 20, marking a significant setback just as training camp gets underway.

Onwuzurike, a 2021 second-round draft pick, was coming off his most productive season in 2024, recording a career-high 11 starts and establishing himself as a versatile piece along the defensive line. His ability to shift between inside and outside positions gave the Lions valuable flexibility. However, the ACL injury abruptly halts his momentum and raises long-term questions about his future durability.
