It was a memorable weekend for both Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams. The veteran quarterback not only guided his team to a third consecutive win—a dominant 34-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints at SoFi Stadium—but also joined the celebration of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win against the Blue Jays. Yet, it wasn’t the scoreboard or the celebrations that went viral afterward—it was one lighthearted moment that had everyone laughing, including Stafford’s wife, Kelly.

Stafford’s “Block” Moment Goes Viral

During the third quarter, Stafford made an uncharacteristic play—he attempted to throw a block on Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor. The Rams’ social media team quickly shared the clip, and during a postgame interview, a reporter jokingly asked if he had been training for that. Stafford’s response brought the house down.

“Getting ready? I threw the pads in there a bit,” he laughed. “I ran past the ref, Shawn Smith, and said, ‘I’m too old for this s***.’ He told me, ‘Smart choice.’ I took a little lick there—I don’t even know what I was thinking. I was just playing.”

Kelly Stafford couldn’t hold back her laughter, reposting the clip to her Instagram story with the caption:

“Laughed then and just laughed again,” followed by several laughing emojis.

A Small Play with a Big Reaction

While the play didn’t exactly change the outcome—Stafford’s block only delayed Taylor for a split second before the Saints made the tackle—it showed his determination to help rookie running back Blake Corum, who finished with 58 yards on 13 carries. Even if the block didn’t pan out perfectly, fans loved seeing the veteran QB getting involved downfield.

Another Stellar Performance Under Center

Beyond the viral moment, Stafford continued to play at a high level. Entering Week 9 after a five-touchdown performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he once again delivered an MVP-caliber showing. The 37-year-old completed 24 of 32 passes for 281 yards and four touchdowns, marking the 19th time in his career he’s thrown at least four scores in a game.

The Rams’ offense was firing on all cylinders, piling up 438 total yards—267 through the air and 171 on the ground. Puka Nacua, returning from an ankle injury, shined with seven receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, while Kyren Williams dominated on the ground with 114 rushing yards and one score.

Defensively, Los Angeles continued its recent trend of excellence, allowing just 224 total yards and 10 points. Over their last three matchups, the Rams’ defense has surrendered a combined 20 points, highlighting their resurgence.

Looking Ahead to the 49ers

With momentum on their side, the Rams now set their sights on Week 10’s divisional rematch against the San Francisco 49ers—a chance to avenge their earlier loss this season.

As for Stafford, he’s proving that even after nearly two decades in the league, he still knows how to keep things fun—both on and off the field.
