Kentucky basketball head coach Mark Pope informed reporters Thursday afternoon that Wildcats forward Kam Williams was scheduled to practice on Thursday.

Williams has been out of Kentucky since mid-January with a shattered foot that required surgery. Before William suffered his injury, he was averaging just under 7 points and 2. 5 rebounds per game.

Pope originally told reporters that there was a possibility Williams would be able to return before the end of the season, and it now looks that this is still a possibility. However, Pope remained ambiguous regarding his future intentions, stating that Williams would have to see how his foot responds to full effort before he returns to court.

“It’s sort of a race to the finish line here,” he stated. “A lot of it will depend on how Saturday feels and how the SEC Tournament goes… We’re going to see if we can get him to do a little practice today. “

Pope was later asked to elaborate on Williams, saying, “I adore the fact that he’s dying to play right now. He wants to play very much. He’s doing everything he can to get in. “

The Wildcats have one game left in the 2026 regular season, which is quite significant. Kentucky will play Florida, hoping to make a substantial contribution to its NCAA Tournament record. The Wildcats will need assistance from Vanderbilt and Arkansas, but a victory on Saturday would put Kentucky in contention for a double-bye in the SEC Tournament.
