Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, now in his 17th NFL season, has added a new companion to his family. Stafford, the former No. 1 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, is in his fifth year with the Rams as they prepare for a crucial Week 10 matchup against the 49ers with a 6–2 record.
Matthew and his wife, Kelly Stafford, are parents to four daughters — Sawyer, Chandler, Hunter, and Tyler. Their household has long included pets as well, and in April 2022 the family suffered the heartbreaking loss of their beloved 13-year-old dog, Marley. Kelly shared an emotional tribute at the time, thanking Marley for years of unconditional love and recalling how the dog used to sleep on Matthew’s side of the bed whenever he left for NFL duties.
A year and a half after that loss, in December 2023, the Staffords welcomed a new dog, George Jack-Jack, into their home. And now, another furry friend has joined the pack.
Kelly revealed the update on Instagram, sharing a reel captioned “New family member.” A follow-up clip introduced the pair “George and Lucy” with a heart emoji, confirming that the family’s newest addition is a dog named Lucy. She also posted short videos of Lucy riding along for school pickup and strolling beside one of the Stafford daughters.
Lucy becomes the second dog the family has taken in since Marley’s passing, continuing a tradition of keeping their home full of love — both human and canine.
