Michigan is in the running for several top running backs in the 2026 recruiting class, including a four-star prospect who recently named the Wolverines as one of his finalists. This player, Deshonne Redeaux, has been compared to Detroit Lions’ star Jahmyr Gibbs, and the Wolverines could be a serious contender for his commitment.

Redeaux, ranked as the No. 105 overall player and No. 9 running back nationally, hails from Oaks Christian High School in California, the same school that produced Michigan alum Zach Charbonnet. He received a Michigan offer last April, and though his recruitment had been relatively quiet since, his recent announcement of a top-six list — with Michigan included — caught many by surprise. Redeaux has also been compared to Gibbs by 247Sports’ Greg Biggins, who highlighted his impressive speed and versatility. Redeaux, who is also a top sprinter with personal bests of 10.42 in the 100m and 21.32 in the 200m, is known for his home-run hitting ability on the field, showcasing both the agility to make defenders miss and the physicality to break tackles.
