Tramond Collins re-committed to the Florida Gators approximately a week ago, but Mike Norvell and the FSU staff apparently did enough in his recruitment to earn an official visit from the four-star wide receiver on June 12.
Collins initially committed to the Gators in June, but withdrew his commitment in December. Following that, the outstanding athlete from Cottondale, Florida, began making spring visits and attending at least one Junior Day event at FSU. He made the decision to make a second commitment to Florida on March 11.
Gators WR commit Tramond Collins still has a visit to Florida State scheduled.
While I would understand if supporters were skeptical about this news, Collins’ interest in FSU might be genuine. He was on the unofficial visitor list for numerous Seminole home games last season and attended at least one, if not more. Collins has also planned trips to Georgia (May 15), Florida (May 29), and Auburn (June 5) prior to his planned trip to Tallahassee. Normally, having the final visit during a stretch is a positive thing, but the Gators’ staff is likely to attempt to seal the deal after he visits Gainesville and persuade him to cancel the rest of his trips.
Collins is undoubtedly a player whom the FSU coaches should pursue aggressively. Cottondale is around an hour west of Tallahassee, making him practically a hometown candidate. Collins is also a tall, versatile player. He is projected to play wide receiver, but I can definitely see him playing on defense in the secondary.
If there is one thing that FSU requires more of, it is twitchy, adaptable players who can provide a variety of solutions. To be sure, Collins’ 6-foot-2, 185-pound physique lends itself to a linebacker with good coverage and sideline-to-sideline movement.
Norvell must make some recruiting announcements this season, and stealing a prospect from the rival would be a strong indication that he is serious.
