In a Monday morning statement, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Hailie Deegan announced her departure from AM Racing.
When it was first announced that Joey Logano would be taking over AM Racing’s Xfinity Series ride for the Chicago Street Race, the question was first posed.
There have been rumors about Deegan’s future with the team, and it’s clear that she will be searching for a new team to play for in the future.
According to Deegan’s social media comment, “I had a lot of excitement and hope in taking my next step in the NASCAR Xfinity Series beginning this season.”
“I’ve been dreaming about it for years and have been working towards it.” The team approached me to drive their car, so I put a lot of effort into getting ready for this season.
Regretfully, the outcome has not met my expectations. Within a race team, there are always a number of reasons why things work or don’t, but regrettably, our objectives are no longer in line. Having stated that, AM Racing and I are going to split ways.
Regaining my competitive edge is all that is on my mind. To me, that is ALL that matters. I’m searching as soon as I can for the greatest chances to get back on track.
Since only I genuinely know the complete story and what I need to accomplish, I’m grateful for my following and all of my supporters. I’ll see you shortly at the track. Furthermore, despite entering AM Racing with a lot of anticipation surrounding her, Deegan, 22, struggled in her first full-time season in the Xfinity Series.
She was 27th in the points after 17 races in which she had failed to finish in the top 10. Deegan also completed eight straight starts with a P20 or worse finish.
Deegan deleted AM Racing from her X bio, but she did not publicly remark on Logano replacing her for Chicago until making her announcement. Meanwhile, Logano said that AM Racing had contacted him over the seat.
“Hey, we got the seat here for the 15 that seems to be going to open up. Do you want to drive it?” was the message they left on my phone last week. Logano stated. “I believe that I thought clearly.
Let me confirm with my supervisor, Roger Penske, that everything is in order and that there are no conflicts with sponsors. After all of that was resolved, it just seemed to make sense from both sides. When it benefits both parties, that is what a good transaction is.
“When you consider AM Racing, they wanted to bring in a seasoned driver to help them sort of gauge the state of their program and see if I could be of assistance from that standpoint.
“Man, I can get more laps on the Chicago Street Course; there can’t be anything bad with that either,” I thought to myself as I was staring at it. That seemed worthwhile to me at the time.
What does Hailie Deegan’s future hold, and who will fill her position at AM Racing for the balance of 2024? All of those questions remain unanswered, but on Monday, a clearer image was presented.
