After a contentious finish on the Richmond Raceway track over the weekend, NASCAR has a lot to consider. Austin Dillon, the Cook Out 400 winner, may face penalties.
Although it’s unclear what those sanctions would include, Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn’t discounting the possibility of a racing ban.
Earnhardt Jr. stated on the Dale Jr. Download podcast on Tuesday, “Maybe we wouldn’t be shocked if NASCAR came out and said Austin’s sitting out a race.” “I wouldn’t find it problematic.”
After the race went into overtime, Austin Dillon emerged victorious after trading blows with two other cars during the white flag lap.
Initially, he approached Joey Logano’s back bumper and gave him a shove that caused Logano to spin into the wall. After that, he changed his direction to get back on course and collided with Denny Hamlin’s right rear quarter
panel, forcing him to crash into the wall as well. Earnhardt Jr. thinks NASCAR may consider suspending someone for the latter contact.
Earnhardt Jr. remarked, “I think this is a very important moment for NASCAR.” Indeed, this is a crucial matter. They are unable to stop this.
That was going too far. I wish to never see that again. That was similar to how I mistakenly believed Denny hit much harder than he actually did. the he got out of the car looking as brisk as he did shocked me.
He seems to have battered the barrier, in my opinion. Nevertheless, Earnhardt Jr. isn’t positive that Austin Dillon will be suspended in reality.
He believes that a more favorable interpretation of the incident would be to see it as a reaction rather than an aggressive and deliberate move. Of course, the case might get complicated by the spotter’s audio insinuating that Dillon should damage other drivers. “Your perspective determines its significance,” stated Earnhardt Jr.
We can all sit here and claim that he penalized the three while wrecking the 22 and the 11. I completely understood that argument, but I could also see how the 11 and the 3 might have met in an unfortunate situation and that was inevitable given what occurred to the 11. Because, once more, he’s following him if the three don’t veer left into there. However, he bears responsibility.
