Sunday marks the start of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs in Atlanta, following an extremely exciting racing summer. In the two decades that the Cup Series has used playoff formats, this is not the strongest playoff field. Unexpected victories in July and August have caused a disturbance in the lower half of the playoff standings. Although they are not in the playoffs, Kyle Busch, Ross Chastain, Chris Buescher, and Bubba Wallace could be strong challengers all autumn long.

However, we are not discussing the non-playoff drivers here. In ten weeks, NASCAR will crown a new Cup Series champion in Phoenix. The Tennessean’s NASCAR playoff predictions are as follows, in advance of Sunday’s first race:

Martin Truex Jr., Austin Cindric, Harrison Burton, and Chase Briscoe. It won’t be shocking if Briscoe leaves the playoffs early because his victory in the regular season finale at Darlington was unexpected. The same holds true for Burton and Cindric. Furthermore, Truex has zero momentum heading into the postseason.

Brad Keselowski, Daniel Suarez, Alex Bowman, and Joey Logano Logano has been so unreliable that in the first round, I almost gave up on him. For the most portion of the season, Suarez has been slow, with the exception of Atlanta and Richmond. Bowman ought to be content with his progress thus far, as Keselowski is the only member of my group who has the ability to refute me and advance.

  1. Tyler Reddick, William Byron, Ty Gibbs, and Chase Elliott Elliott has had some really impressive moments, but ultimately, over the past nine races, he has not placed higher than seventh. Gibbs has had a strong season and could disprove my assertions here.

Kyle Larson Throughout the season, I predicted Larson to win more times than any other driver, and I have no reason to stop now. He is the clear front-runner.
