Kaulig Racing has revealed that Ty Dillon will be taking over the No. 10 Chevrolet for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series, replacing Daniel Hemric.
BThis unexpected move marks Dillon’s return to the Cup Series from the Truck Series, leaving Hemric’s future in question.
This decision comes after the team’s recent hiring of NASCAR veteran Ty Norris as Chief Business Officer. Dillon, with 244 Cup Series starts, two top-five finishes, and seven top-ten finishes, will join A.J. Allmendinger. Previously, Dillon raced full-time for Spire Motorsports, Petty GMS Motorsports (now Legacy Motor Club), and Germain Racing, which left the sport in 2020.
Notably, Stewart-Haas Racing has used the No. 10 car since 2012, but the team will retire that number at the end of the season. As a result, Kaulig Racing will relinquish the rights to the No. 31, allowing Dillon to drive the No. 10 Chevrolet.
Hemric, who joined Kaulig Racing this year, has faced a challenging season. Reflecting on his departure, he said in a statement:
“Cup racing is the pinnacle of our sport. I’ll always love and appreciate the process of preparing, both mentally and physically, to compete on Sundays. However, I won’t return to Kaulig Racing in 2025 to continue that journey.
“My family and I are deeply thankful to Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice, and everyone at Kaulig Racing for welcoming me into their team and giving me the rare chance to return to the top level of the sport. The desire to win on Sundays will never fade. I’m focused on finishing the last 7 races strong and building towards whatever comes next in my career.”
On Norris’s recent transition from Trackhouse Racing, Kaulig Racing released the following statement:
“Today, Kaulig Racing announces the addition of NASCAR veteran Ty Norris to the team. Norris will assume the role of Chief Business Officer, working on partnerships and long-term strategy with owner Matt Kaulig and team President Chris Rice. Bringing Norris and his extensive experience to the executive team is one of many strategic moves Kaulig and Rice are implementing to ensure the future success of the NASCAR Cup Series program.”
