Newcastle United intends to revamp their defense during the forthcoming summer transfer window, with a Manchester City full-back and a Real Madrid youngster on their radar.
The Magpies are now sitting 12th in the Premier League after a season that has fallen far short of expectations, and they are already planning for the next campaign. According to The Chronicle, the team plans to revamp its defense, which has performed poorly throughout the season.
The main goal is to lower the average age of the defensive unit, which now consists of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, and Emil Krafth, all of whom are in their thirties. Trippier is expected to depart the club, and Tino Livramento is generating interest from Manchester City.
Rico Lewis is a target as the City full-back seeks more regular playing time

Newcastle will need to sign one or two right-backs to account for these departures. According to The Chronicle, the club is monitoring Rico Lewis. The 21-year-old has failed to establish himself as a regular starter for Manchester City and is expected to be moved this summer. TEAMtalk reports that he is willing to try something new in order to gain more regular playing time.
Lewis, who is comfortable playing at left-back, midfield, and his preferred right-back position, is worth around £34 million and has sparked interest from Sunderland. Before the window opens, additional suitors are anticipated to emerge.
Real Madrid Gem Aguado is also in Newcastle’s sights.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle is also monitoring Diego Aguado for center defense. The 19-year-old, who can also play left-back, is now with Real Madrid’s reserve team and may be permitted to leave the Bernabeu this summer to further his career, having only made two senior appearances.
According to AS, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Parma are all interested in signing the young defender before the summer transfer window.
