Jameson Williams, the Detroit Lions wide receiver, has often found himself in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, especially as his team’s season unexpectedly ended. Over the course of his three-year NFL career, Williams has faced two separate suspensions and a few off-field controversies. His performance in the Lions’ divisional round loss to the Washington Commanders raised eyebrows, particularly after he threw an interception during a trick play. Additionally, he was fined by the NFL for one of his actions in the game.

The NFL recently imposed a fine of $25,325 on Williams for making an “obscene gesture” following a touchdown he scored against the Commanders. Williams ran a 61-yard reverse in the second quarter to cut the Commanders’ lead, then performed a controversial celebration, gyrating his lower body toward the ground. Although no penalty was called at the time, Williams’ celebration was deemed inappropriate by the league. This isn’t the first time Williams has been fined for an offbeat celebration, as he had previously been penalized $19,697 for a celebration mimicking Marshawn Lynch’s famous backward dive and crotch grab into the end zone.
