Ohio State football coach Ryan Day couldn’t help but grin in reaction to internet rumors that he has a nipple piercing.
During Wednesday’s edition of the “Not Just Football” podcast, host Cam Heyward questioned Day if he “got a nipple ring” — alluding to the coach’s viral moment during the Buckeyes’ season opener against Texas on August 30.
At the time, Day caused a stir online after screengrabs of his conversation with Fox Sports’ Jenny Taft appeared to show him wearing a nipple piercing beneath his Nike collared shirt.
“I mean, I kind of thought it gave me some street credit there for a second,” Day joked. “But unfortunately no, I am not that cool. I’m not sure. “
Heyward, a 15-year NFL veteran with the Steelers and a former defensive lineman for Ohio State, jokingly said that he “had to bring it up. “
Heyward stated that he questioned his Steelers colleagues and former Buckeyes players Will Howard and Jack Sawyer about Day’s viral moment when they featured on the “Not Just Football” podcast in November.
“Hey, the number of times I’ve been asked that question,” Howard said at the time, adding that both he and Sawyer attended the game, where No. 3 Ohio State beat No. 1 Texas, 14-7.
“Didn’t we screw with him a few times about that? ” Sawyer inquired.

Heyward, a Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2011 NFL draft, did not play for Day, who became Ohio State’s head coach in 2019.
