Now, with his status uncertain once more, the Orioles must adjust. Ryan Noda—claimed off waivers from the White Sox—stepped in as a potential replacement. While he offers defensive flexibility and has experience at both first base and the corner outfield, Noda doesn’t bring the same power threat that O’Neill was expected to provide in the heart of the order.

The timing is far from ideal, especially during a key series against the Phillies. Losing an experienced outfielder mid-game adds pressure to a lineup already thin on depth. Orioles GM Mike Elias has remained focused on long-term development, but injuries to key veterans like O’Neill complicate that approach, creating an ongoing balancing act between building for the future and addressing immediate roster needs.
