The Green Bay Packers opened their 2025 campaign in convincing fashion, taking down Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions, 27-13, at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Unlike last year’s overseas opener against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, which ended in disappointment, Jordan Love and his teammates wasted no time putting together a statement win to start 1-0.

“One of our biggest goals was to kick off the season strong and set the right tone,” Love said following the game, via the Associated Press. “To get that kind of dominant performance in front of our fans in Week 1, it’s exactly what we’ve been working toward.”

The 25-year-old quarterback didn’t just talk about the win itself—he made it clear that Green Bay has its eyes on bigger things within the division.

“In the grand scheme, everything begins with the NFC North,” Love explained, per 97.3 The Game. “Having a division matchup right away, getting the job done, and going 1-0 in the North is the kind of start we wanted. Obviously, the Super Bowl is the long-term goal, but it all starts with winning this division. What we showed today is the foundation.”

Love delivered a clean performance, completing 16 of 22 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while avoiding turnovers. Detroit’s defense, bolstered by the return of edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, never managed to bring him down for a sack.

The Packers will look to carry that momentum into Week 2 when they stay home to face Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
