Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur praised the Detroit Lions after securing a season sweep over Dan Campbell’s team in their 2025 Thanksgiving matchup.

The Lions fell 31-24 at Ford Field on Thanksgiving Day, marking the second time this season the Packers defeated their NFC North rivals. Detroit also lost to Green Bay 27-13 in Week 1 at Lambeau Field — a game that featured the highly anticipated debut of pass rusher Micah Parsons following his blockbuster trade from the Dallas Cowboys.

Jordan Love Shines in Statement Performance

Quarterback Jordan Love delivered one of his strongest outings of the season. He completed 18 of 30 passes for 234 yards and threw four touchdowns with zero interceptions, guiding the Packers to a crucial holiday victory. As the Packers celebrated with the traditional Thanksgiving turkey, the Lions were left searching for answers after another close divisional loss.

LaFleur Praises Lions Despite Completing Sweep

Even after earning a satisfying sweep — especially after losing both matchups to Detroit in the 2024 season — LaFleur kept his message respectful during his postgame press conference.

“Every game’s its own game, and we just came in here with an aggressive mindset,” LaFleur said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “You have to play that way against these guys, knowing you’re defending four downs. They’re a really good football team.”

LaFleur continued by highlighting the Lions’ rise under Dan Campbell:

“They’ve won a lot of games, and they’ve been one of the premier teams in the league. They’ve got a lot of great players. I’ve got so much respect for Dan and his staff and what they’ve accomplished.”

Packers Turn Focus to Crucial Division Matchup

Next up for Green Bay is another important NFC North showdown. The Chicago Bears travel to Lambeau Field for a battle between the division’s top two teams, with major playoff implications on the line.
